Himad Abdelli replaces Houssem Aouar in Algeria squad for Africa Cup of Nations

Algeria have called up Himad Abdelli for the Africa Cup of Nations, with Houssem Aouar ruled out through injury, the Algerian federation announced on Friday.

Initially omitted from the squad, the Angers midfielder will now travel to Morocco for the tournament, which starts on Sunday.

Abdelli, Angers' number 10, comes in for the former Lyon man Aouar, now at Al-Ittihad, who was injured during training.

In fine form with Angers, Abdelli, 26 and capped four times, returns to Algeria after more than a year and will be at his first Africa Cup of Nations.

Following his call-up, 17-year-old Nattio Sonnerat Deschamps has been drafted into the Angers group to replace him for the Coupe de France tie at Les Herbiers on Friday at 20:45.
