Callum McGregor has been in fine form this season and has contributed more than just goals, with his all-rounded approach to the game and tactical nous and awareness a real boost for the Bhoys whenever he plays.
It seems more and more a feature that when Cal has a good game, Celtic tends to have a good game, such is his essentially to the entire process Brendan Rodgers has instilled in the team.
Callum McGregor added another to his tally for the campaign too against Simo Valakari’s troops, making him the seventh player in the squad to hit double figures for the season, which Dodds pointed out afterwards. Rodgers was just about running out of superlatives for his captain, saying: “He’s such a unique player with the balance he gives the team. Like you see, the first two goals he scores one and he creates one. But that’s because of how the opposition play – so you get the chance to release him forward.”

Brendan Rodgers was joined in his praising of McGregor by ex-Celtic player and manager Lennon, who of course coached the former Scotland international during his second tenure as Hoops boss. The current Dunfermline gaffer dubbed the midfielder as “special”, to which Brendan then replied: “Aye. His tactical idea of the game is so good on the pitch. He’s a coach on the pitch for us.”
