Historic Move on the Horizon: Villarreal vs Barcelona Could Be Played in Miami

Spanish football could witness landmark moment as La Liga's pushing to stage the Villarreal vs Barcelona clash outside of Spain in Miami, USA.

According to Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo, the league's formally requested approval from the Royal Spanish Football Federation RFEF to relocate the Matchday 17 fixture to Hard Rock Stadium, home of Inter Miami where Barca legend Lionel Messi now plays.

Decision Pending

The RFEF's expected to deliver its verdict on Monday. If approved, the matter will be escalated to UEFA whose consent is also required for any official fixture to be held outside Europe.
