Reports in Italy claim that Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand has given his availability for a transfer to Juventus, but the Bianconeri face two major difficulties in negotiations with the Portuguese side.
The Old Lady are on the search for a new midfielder as they are expected to sell outcast Douglas Luiz, who did not set the world alight after his €50m move from Aston Villa last summer, and has since failed to report for the first week of Juve’s pre-season training camp.
Recent reports have suggested a number of potential replacements for Douglas Luiz in Turin, including Hjulmand, Sofyan Amrabat, Fulham’s Sander Berge and Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday morning, Hjulmand has given a ‘general availability’ to joining Juventus this summer.
Juventus are not expected to encounter any difficulties on personal terms; A five-year contract and a slight increase on the salary that he currently earns ought to be enough to find an agreement with Hjulmand himself, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
Finding an agreement with Sporting, however, could be considerably more difficult.

The Portuguese side are in no rush to sell given that they have just sold leading goalscorer Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal for a reported fee of €73.5m.
Hjulmand also has a release clause in his contract, which La Gazzetta dello Sport claims is set at €60m, while numerous other outlets claim it is significantly higher at €80m.
Either way, as Sporting are not particularly looking to sell Hjulmand, they are expected to point to the player’s release clause if and/or when Juventus come knocking.
Sunday’s report claims that Juventus are hoping to get a deal done for a fee in the region of €40m plus bonuses for the former Lecce midfielder.
The second issue that Juve could encounter involves the aforementioned Douglas Luiz, as La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that it will be difficult, financially, to bring in a new midfielder of Hjulmand’s level while the Brazilian is still on the club’s books.

That means that Juve are left needing to sell Douglas Luiz before they could realistically get any sort of deal done with Sporting.
Sporting have already ‘warned’ Juventus that a swap deal involving Douglas Luiz will not be accepted either.
