Rasmus Hojlund has given the all-clear to join Inter, according to reports in Italy, with hope Manchester United will accept just over half what they paid Atalanta.

The striker has been repeatedly linked with a return to Serie A after struggling with life at Old Trafford, including Napoli, Juventus and Milan.

Inter are emerging as the strongest contenders, as Football Italia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà already confirmed a recent trip to London by director Piero Ausilio included talks for Hojlund.

Now the Corriere dello Sport suggest that the centre-forward has given the all-clear for negotiations to progress between the clubs, as he is eager to come to Inter.

There is still a lot of work to be done, not least because Manchester United paid €77.8m plus up to another €9.9m in add-ons to sign him from Atalanta just two years ago.

With 10 goals and four assists in 52 competitive games this season, the 22-year-old’s value has dropped on the transfer market, though not quite so far as Inter would like.

The Corriere dello Sport reports they would like to get the deal done for circa €40-45m.

Even that sum is beyond the Nerazzurri to hand over outright, so it would need to be a loan with option to buy, possibly becoming an obligation if certain conditions are met.

That is not something Manchester United are currently prepared to accept.

They are revamping their attack with the departure of Joaquin Correa (who already has an agreement with Botafogo) and Marko Arnautovic as free agents, while Mehdi Taremi is also said to be on the market.
