Mikel Arteta has issued a rallying cry to the Arsenal fans as he wants a “special” atmosphere for tonight’s Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Arsenal are hosting PSG in the first leg at Emirates Stadium in a game that Arteta believes is possibly the biggest since the ground opened 19 years ago.
The Gunners were able to create a raucous atmosphere for the first leg of their quarter-final against Real Madrid - which they won 3-0 - but Arteta wants to top that.
“Tomorrow, more,” he said on Monday night. “I told them (the Arsenal fans), and I’m not exaggerating, when I said: ‘Guys, bring your boots, bring your shorts, bring your t-shirts, and let’s play every ball together’.
“We want to do something special. That place has to be something special, something that we haven’t seen.
“And I really hope that everybody that comes tomorrow to the Emirates and is watching and following us, it brings that energy with them.”

Arsenal have put plans in place to create the “special” atmosphere that Arteta is looking for in north London.
There will be two tifos on display, including a huge cannon design that will be suspended from the roof of the North Bank stand - which has never been done before. There will also be a huge crowd surfer banner in the East Stand, with the words “make it happen” on it.
Red smoke and fireworks will also be used pre-match, as was the case when Arsenal hosted Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
Fans have, once again, been encouraged to get to the ground early and Arsenal have organised a “buy one and get one on us” offer on drinks for the first hour that the stadium is open.
“Tomorrow we have a massive opportunity as well, as a club, as supporters, to demonstrate who we are and how far we still want to get together,” said Arteta.
“It’s an incredible opportunity. We are here to make people happy, to create history and we are very close. Now we have to take the opportunity and make it happen.
“You sense the energy, the enthusiasm that it’s something unique. It’s probably one of the biggest games that the Emirates has seen since we built it. We’re full of energy, enthusiasm and can’t wait to play the game tomorrow.”
