Former Sheffield United defender Kyle Walker has labelled it a 'dream' to potentially return to Bramall Lane before calling time on his career.
Sheffield United have had their fair share of players that have gone on to bigger and better things since leaving Bramall Lane.
One of those that fall into that category is former Blades defender, Kyle Walker, who went on to sign for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2009, after coming through the club's academy system at his boyhood club.
He briefly returned to Sheffield United on loan whilst with Spurs, but went on to feature regularly for the Premier League side, making 229 appearances in total.
It was at Manchester City where he had his most success though, with Walker making 319 appearances for the Premier League giants, where he went on to win six Premier League titles, and a Champions League as well.
He's since moved on from Manchester City, and is now facing a tough challenge to stay in the top-flight with Burnley, who look as though they're set to return to the Championship after struggling for much of the 2025/26 league campaign.
Walker has recently announced his international retirement, with the full-back calling time on his spell with the Three Lions, which saw him make 96 appearances in total across a 14-year period with England.

Walker clearly still holds Sheffield United in high regard, and labelled it as a 'dream' to play for his boyhood club again in a recent interview with the Burnley Express, although he remains unsure whether the Blades would want to sign him again.
“I don’t know if I’ll continue playing for a few more years. I feel once that time in my head comes where I'm done, I'd have to be true to myself. Leave the game before the game leaves you. “It’s always been a dream to play for Sheffield United again. To start there at six years old and then leaving at 19 – I spent so many incredible years there. I hope to play for them again. I don't know when that will be. I don't know if they will want me.”
Walker is contracted with Burnley until the summer of 2027, and it remains to be seen as to what the future holds for him, especially if Scott Parker's side are to be relegated from the Premier League this term.

Sheffield United have shown much-needed improvement in the second-half of this season, and Blades boss Chris Wilder will know that he's in for an interesting summer transfer window ahead.
It seems a tough ask to force themselves into the play-off positions this term, as they're currently ten points adrift of sixth-placed Wrexham in the Championship table.
With just eight games remaining in this year's league campaign, the Bramall Lane faithful could be forgiven for having half an eye on preparing for next season in the second-tier.
Reinforcements are needed, and if Wilder can find the right balance between youth and experience, then it wouldn't come as much of a surprise to see Sheffield United making a serious push for promotion back into the Premier League next season.
Walker could a considerable amount of experience to the Blades squad, and plenty will still say that the full-back is more than good enough to be playing in the Premier League, so it could be somewhat of a coup for Sheffield United if they were to reach an agreement to land his signature ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
