The Owls were relegated to League One last Sunday, thanks to a 2-1 defeat by local rivals Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, supporters are still anxiously waiting for a takeover, as their club remain in administration, with Kris Wigfield revealing that Wednesday are losing £1million a month.

The Hillsborough outfit cannot move forward until a takeover is completed, with important matters, such as the future of boss Henrik Pedersen, still to be decided.

Wednesday's Head of Recruitment, Kevin Beadell, has left the South Yorkshire club, with preferred bidder Bord set to take his own approach to recruitment if he completes his takeover.

Meanwhile, BBC Radio Sheffield's Rob Staton took to X on Tuesday to reveal a statement that was shared with him by the Storch bid team: "We remain incredibly passionate about the opportunity at Sheffield Wednesday and seeing the club return to its former glory. We wish the preferred bidder well through the process, but are ready to step in should the opportunity present itself again.

"We know all are disappointed by relegation yet wish the team well as they finish the current season."

Bord is being sued by his former business partner, Jonathan Cohen, over investment in Spanish second-tier club Cordoba, which could impact his prospective Owls takeover.

David Storch statement should reassure Sheffield Wednesday supporters

While Wednesday's preferred bidder is currently being sued by his former business partner, that is not the only potential stumbling block regarding his takeover.

The EFL are working to assess whether Bord's takeover would be largely funded by gambling and crypto-gambling operations, as they examine whether he should pass their Owners' and Directors' Test.

If the American's takeover isn't completed by May, the Independent Football Regulator, rather than the EFL, will have the responsibility of ratifying the sale of Wednesday.

Meanwhile, as some doubts have been raised over Bord, the Owls faithful should be pleased by the fact that the Storch bid team have publicly declared that they are still interested in purchasing the South Yorkshire club.

Former Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri proved how much damage one irresponsible individual can inflict on a football club, showing why the EFL and Independent Football Regulator's checks are not straightforward.

The Thai businessman dragged the Hillsborough side into administration after consistently failing to pay player and staff wages on time, and the points deductions that were inflicted on the Owls due to his financial mismanagement were responsible for the fact that they were relegated in February.

Bord's Wednesday takeover could be completed within six weeks, showing that there is light at the end of the tunnel for long-suffering supporters.
