How Inter could spread Gudmundsson cost with Genoa

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter and Genoa could work out an unusual payment schedule for Albert Gudmundsson that helps both clubs balance the books.

They are already working to get one deal done this summer, with goalkeeper Josep Martinez moving to San Siro for €13m plus another €2m in add-ons.

When it comes to Gudmundsson, the asking price is a far higher €30-35m, which is unlikely for Inter unless they can sell to raise funds first.

A solution could be to work within the delicate balance of both clubs and their finances, because Genoa and their owners 777 Partners organised a payment schedule with the authorities for their tax debt, needing the funds by December 31 rather than July 1.

La Gazzetta dello Sport notes that the sale of Martinez would cover them for the current season, but delaying the Gudmundsson payment could actually help.

It is not new to Inter, who already signed Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo on loan with obligation to buy, effectively spreading out the cost over two seasons rather than one.

A similar approach is possible for Iceland international Gudmundsson, a loan with obligation to buy set for a later date.
