Reports in Italy claim that Inter are still keen on a deal with Manchester United for former Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, but the Nerazzurri will require assistance from the Dane’s current employers.

Hojlund, who joined United in a deal worth €75m plus €10m in bonuses in 2023, has been linked with a return to Serie A in the summer, with Inter, Juventus and Napoli all said to have expressed an interest at various stages of the 2024-25 season.

Inter are particularly keen on adding to their attacking ranks this summer. Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram remain the first-choice options in Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2, but Joaquin Correa and Marko Arnautovic are both out of contract at the end of June, and Mehdi Taremi is also likely to be moved on if an appropriate offer comes in.

Reports in May claimed that the Nerazzurri have lodged an initial enquiry with Man United regarding Hojlund ahead of the summer transfer window.

Updates from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday claim that Inter will have a budget of around €40m to invest on a new striker in the summer transfer window, which is not quite enough to secure Hojlund on a permanent deal from United.

That leaves Inter looking at an initial loan deal with either an option or obligation to buy at a later date.

Ange-Yoan Bonny of Parma is also said to be of interest to the Nerazzurri heading into the summer transfer window.
