When Jude Bellingham underwent surgery to address his shoulder injury in July, it was expected that he could be out for more than three months.

Indeed, initial reports put his return to take place sometime in late October or even early November, suggesting that Real Madrid would have to make do without one of their most important players for almost a third of the season.

However, in a huge surprise, Bellingham is already back, as he was included in the squad list for tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League match against Olympique de Marseille.

The hard work behind Bellingham’s speedy recovery and swift return

In recent weeks, it had been suggested that Bellingham’s recovery was progressing very well and he could return earlier than expected. But a comeback as early as this week was not entirely anticipated.

But, the 22-year-old England international has worked extremely hard on his recovery to make it possible, reports journalist Alvaro Esteban.

Indeed, Bellingham spared no efforts in order to return as early as possible and make himself available at manager Xabi Alonso’s disposal.

The midfield superstar went through several weeks of intense training, working somewhere between eight and nine hours a day at Valdebebas.

Bellingham exercised on the pitch, in the gym, and in the pool, pushing himself as much as possible at every step of the way.

Real Madrid’s idea was to have him back sometime in mid-October, but the former Borussia Dortmund ace was desperate to come back as soon as possible.

Having returned to group training over the past few days, he has now received his medical clearance and included in the squad to face Marseille tomorrow. While a start is unlikely, Bellingham is expected to receive some minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu.
