Sulemana’s future at St. Mary’s is uncertain following the club’s relegation from the Premier League. The 23-year-old has struggled to live up to the reported £22 million fee paid to sign him by Southampton in the 2023 January transfer window.

According to Sky Sports Italy (23.41), the Serie A side were already preparing another offer to the Saints as they look to sign the winger this summer, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting a fee over £14 million now has things advancing.

Former Southampton manager Ivan Juric is now in charge of the Bergamo outfit, and is looking to reunite with Sulemana this summer.

It is believed that an initial offer worth £11.9 million was submitted by Atalanta, but it has been rejected.

According to Fabrizio Romano, another offer worth around €17 (£14.5) million has been submitted, with negotiations understood to now be in the final stages.

Will Still has taken over in place of Juric at the Hampshire outfit, and it is unlikely that Sulemana will form a key part of his first-team plans.

The forward has a contract with the Saints until the summer of 2027, but a permanent departure looks to be on the cards.

Will Still’s summer transfer plans for Southampton

Still was appointed as Juric’s successor earlier this summer, and will be tasked with gaining promotion back to the Premier League next season.

The Saints have already made their first signing of the transfer market, bringing Joshua Quarshie in from German side Hoffenheim.

Southampton will be keen to improve the side in order to compete at the top end of the Championship, but player sales may yet take priority first after suffering relegation from the top flight.

Sulemana sale will bolster Southampton’s summer

Sulemana’s time at Southampton has been disappointing given the fee paid to sign him in 2023.

He started just 17 times in the Premier League last season, and only contributed one goal and one assist.

Being able to cash in on him this summer by recouping a decent amount of the fee paid to sign him originally would be good business.

A deal in the region of £15 million or so would be a nice boost to their potential spending power in the market this summer, and it appears Southampton will get that figure.
