Arsenal centre-backs missing for both sides as giants clash

France take on Brazil in the final international window ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

Didier Deschamps remains in charge of the side, but is expected to step down in the summer, after the World Cup in Mexico, Canada and the United States.

The 2018 winners are without Arsenal defender William Saliba, who is out with an injury despite playing all 90 minutes of the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

He has been replaced in the squad by Crystal Palace’s centre-back Maxence Lacroix, who earns his first international call-up at senior level at the age of 25.

Kylian Mbappe is also with the group after his recent knee problems, while Liverpool’s in-form striker Hugo Ekitike is also called upon.

Chelsea’s Malo Gusto is also looking to stake his claim for the right-back berth.

For Brazil, the big story is Carlo Ancelotti’s omission of Neymar, who has gone public with his frustrations of missing out of the squad.

Instead, the record five-time World Cup winners have plumped for Igor Thiago of Brentford, who receives a maiden call-up, although they will also be without an Arsenal centre-back,as Gabriel withdrew with a knee problem.
