Returning to the MKM Stadium to face his former club, Liam Rosenior will be looking to help Chelsea avoid an FA Cup upset as they take on Hull City on Friday night.

Recent form

Hull City find themselves firmly in the hunt for promotion from the EFL Championship, currently sitting in fourth and in a strong position for the play-offs.

After a run of five consecutive wins, Hull City have failed to find victory in their last two matches, most recently suffering a 3–2 home defeat to Bristol City last Saturday.

In similar fashion, Chelsea saw their four-game league winning streak come to an end with a 2–2 home draw against Leeds United. Overall, however, Chelsea have bounced back well from Carabao Cup disappointment to Arsenal in the semi-finals and have been performing strongly in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

The visitors booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 5-1 win at Charlton and will be looking for another resounding victory away at Championship opposition,

What’s been said?

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic said: “What can I say about Chelsea? Chelsea is Chelsea. We will prepare everything. Maybe we will use this game to give some minutes to those players who need minutes, we will see.

“We must be smart in this game. We will be in a low block, maybe we can play with a shovel, I don’t know.”

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior said: “Hull City is very special for me. My grandma was a season ticket holder. I’ve got my family going up as the club means a lot to me for many reasons. Hopefully we can put on a really good show, it will be amazing to go back.

“Without Hull, without the experience of being there as a player and as a manager, I would not be sitting here. I’ve got a lot to thank the club for and I had some amazing times there, both as a player and as a coach.

“We will go there with a team I think will be good enough to win the game. I want to take this game really seriously. We’re going to have to because they’re in good form and used to winning games at the moment.”
