The two-time EFL Cup winners travel to Vale Park to take on Darren Moore's side this Wednesday
The third round of the EFL Cup returns this week, as sides battle to see who will join Grimsby Town, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Swansea City in the Last 16.
The final game of the round sees two-time winners and last season's semi-finalists Arsenal take on newly promoted League One side Port Vale.
Darren Moore's side have found their groove in the third tier recently, winning their first two games of the season in back-to-back outings, most recently against Mansfield Town.
Their route to the third round has seen them win 1-0 away from home twice — in the first round against Blackpool, and then against Birmingham City in the last round, becoming the first side to beat the Blues at St Andrews since Newcastle United's FA Cup victory there in January.
Now, they welcome Arsenal, who will be buoyed by their late equaliser against Manchester City on Sunday.
This is the Gunners' first taste of EFL Cup action this season, as they were one of the sides allowed a bye to the third round due to their participation in the UEFA Champions League, which began with a 2-0 win in Bilbao last Tuesday.
Port Vale vs Arsenal is the final third round tie of this season's EFL Cup, taking place on Wednesday, 24 September, with an 8pm kick-off.
The tie will be shown live from Vale Park on Sky Sports Football, which is channel number 403 for Sky customers, and 513 for Virgin Media customers.
Sky customers can also access the match via the streaming sites on Sky Go and the Sky Sports App, as well as NOW TV.
As it is the final match of the round, the draw for the fourth round will take place following the conclusion of the game, which goes straight to penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes.
With Arsenal being without a major trophy in the last five seasons, this year is seen as an important one for Mikel Arteta to get one over the line, and a tie against a League One side will be seen as a good way to kickstart a good run.
Vale will be hoping that the cupset blessing falls on them, and they can provdie yet another twist to what has already been an entertaining EFL Cup campaign, seen by Grimsby Town's progression over Manchester United, and Swansea City coming from behind late against Nottingham Forest last week.
The Valiants made the quarter-finals a couple of years back, before being knocked out by Middlesbrough, the first side in a higher division which they drew. Under Arteta, Arsenal have made the semi-finals twice, including last season, when they were knocked out by eventual winners Newcastle United.
It'll definitely be one to keep an eye on for the neutral this Wednesday, as Port Vale look to knock out one of the early favourites for the trophy.
