Michael Carrick looking to defend unbeaten run
Michael Carrick’s Manchester United head south today to face a resurgent West Ham in the Premier League.
United are presently on their best run for some time, with four wins on the bounce in all competitions and 13 points from the last 15 available.
Carrick is yet to taste defeat in the United dugout, and will be keen to extend that run in Stratford.
West Ham, though, are also on a markedly positive run. They remain in the relegation conversation, granted, but January signings have settled quickly and results seem to be turning around for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.
They could draw level on points with 17th-placed Nottingham Forest with a win, and could even leave the relegation zone, goal difference dependent.
There may be a pair of injury comebacks for the visitors, with both Mason Mount and Matthijs de Ligt thought to be closing in on returns to play.
But, should they be passed fit, they may not crack the side. Carrick has named an unchanged eleven for both of his last two outings, and likely will not be tempted to shy away from what is plainly a winning formula.
