Hugo Rincón scores early as Girona beat Athletic 3-0, told to save goals for next season | OneFootball

Hugo Rincón, on loan at Girona from Athletic, struck early to set up a 3-0 win over his parent club at Montilivi. The right-back’s form continues to grow under Míchel Sánchez.

The full-back opened the scoring after four minutes to make it 1-0 and Girona never looked back on Saturday. He embraced several Athletic players before and after the game.

“I meant to shoot, not cross. They told me to save the goals for next year,” he told DAZN.

Girona have trusted him with the right flank this season and his displays have ensured Athletic are taking note for next term. Míchel has done likewise with Lemar, Vitor Reis and Echeverri this campaign.

He will return to their set-up in the summer, with a deal running to 2028.
