Hugo Souza and Garro were the standouts as Corinthians claimed an away win over Athletico-PR at Arena da Baixada. The keeper made at least three big saves, and the midfielder struck from range.

According to Globo.com, several performances caught the eye. At 13 minutes of the first half, Matheus Bidu conceded a penalty for a foul on Viveros, and at 20 minutes Garro scored with a superb effort from outside the box.

Gabriel Paulista and Gustavo Henrique were secure at the back, strong in the air and composed. Matheuzinho was steady defensively and his cross into the area formed part of the build-up to Garro’s goal. Raniele contributed with a crucial clearance near the line.

Up front, Memphis Depay led the line in Yuri Alberto’s absence but struggled to influence play, misplacing passes and creating little threat. Vitinho returned to the starting line-up yet offered little, with his one attempt blocked.

Matheus Pereira had a quiet game and went off on 29 minutes of the second half with muscle discomfort. André had a shot blocked after a pass from Memphis, while Gui Negão and Carrillo made late, low-impact cameos.

Charles endured a difficult night, committing too many fouls, before André Ramalho came on late to help maintain defensive balance. Head coach Dorival Júnior maintained his rotation policy and still took three points, despite the poor state of the Arena da Baixada pitch.
