The 24-year-old is looking to get his career back on track after a rough two years which has seen him not feature in a competitive game since December 2023, when he was on loan at Ipswich Town.

Now, Williams is set to find a new permanent home at the KCOM Stadium, according to the latest reports from Hull Live. The Tigers have been impressed by the defender's attitude and application since joining the club on trial over the summer.

Once one of the most exciting up-and-coming young prodigies to come through the famed Manchester United academy, Williams' career has hit a brick wall in recent years, which has seen him unattached from any club for over a year.

The 24-year-old played his final competitive fixture for Ipswich in December 2023 whilst on loan with the Suffolk-based club, but has since seen his career fizzle out, following his release from Old Trafford last summer.

However, embargoed Championship outfit Hull are reportedly set to offer Williams a career lifeline, following a successful trial with the Yorkshire club over the summer.

City have been slapped with a three-window transfer embargo after failure to make loan payments, meaning they can only sign free agents and loan players until January 2027.

Fortunately, Williams fits the criteria for Sergej Jakirovic's side, and impressed with his attitude and application over his temporary stint with the club in pre-season.

Now, Hull Live suggests that the Tigers are set to make his temporary stay at the club permanent, with a contract offer set to be tabled, handing the left-back a career lifeline.

Williams is a low-risk, high-reward signing for Hull City

Williams featured in City's latest pre-season test against Spanish side Getafe on Saturday, coming off the bench in the second-half to get more minutes in his legs, after a lengthy stint without playing football.

He also got more minutes under his belt in a pre-season victory over Sunderland last Tuesday. However, there's still a long road ahead of Williams before he finds full match fitness once again.

Having not played a competitive match in over 18 months, Hull recognise that the 24-year-old will need time to get up to speed ahead of being integrated into their Championship squad, but this is a small sacrifice for what could potentially be a huge reward.

The defender has already proven to be a player with huge potential, who is more than capable of excelling at Premier League level. He will just take some time to get up to speed before he can show that in a Hull shirt.

If Jakirovic can get the best out of Williams and help him find his feet in football once again, Hull will reap the rewards of having a Premier League proven left-back in their ranks, and could sell him on for a big fee later down the line.

All in all, signing the former United prospect is a low-risk, high-reward move from the Tigers, as they don't lose out on much if it doesn't work out, whereas the rewards of getting Williams fully firing again could be game-changing for the club.
