Hummels tells Roma fans: ‘I don’t know why I didn’t play’ – report | OneFootball

Mats Hummels is still waiting for his Roma debut and reportedly told Giallorossi fans last night that he doesn’t know why he didn’t play against Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League on Thursday.

The German defender joined Roma on a free transfer last summer but has yet to play a single minute under Daniele De Rossi or his successor, Juric.

“I see Hummels in [the same] N’Dicka’s position, and at this moment, it seems to me that our defence is holding up well,” Juric explained last night.

“N’Dicka is doing well and is ahead [of Hummels]. But Hummels is a great professional and will have his chances.”

After last night’s game against Dynamo Kyiv, Hummels visited the popular Trastevere neighbourhood in the capital. Il Messaggero showed a picture taken by the German defender with some Giallorossi supporters.

Hummels was expected to make his debut last night but was once again an unused substitute.

According to the Messaggero report, the experienced centre-back briefly discussed his situation with a group of Roma fans, saying: “I don’t know why I didn’t play. ”

“I am at the coach’s disposal, and if he makes me play, I’m ready.”

Hummels signed a one-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico. His salary is €2.5m plus add-ons.

A former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star, Hummels won the 2014 World Cup with Germany. Last season, he started in the Champions League Final against Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium.

Hummels played 442 games in the Bundesliga and 90 in the Champions League.
