FIFA has confirmed that, no matter the weather, every match at the 2026 World Cup will feature two hydration breaks - one in each half.

The move is designed primarily to protect the players, while also giving coaches a chance to make tactical tweaks and offering extra advertising opportunities during TV broadcasts.

Each break is set to take place around the 22nd minute of the half and will last three minutes, with referees adding the time to the end of the half as usual.

The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19 and will be jointly hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
