A conflict seems to have emerged between AC Milan and the Spanish national team coach luis de la Fuente over Alvaro Morata’s condition.

Morata got injured during Thursday’s training session at Milanello as he and Strahinja Pavlovic collided heads going for the ball. The Spaniard went to hospital for a CT scan which showed no serious damage, but he will miss the trip to Cagliari and Francesco Camarda will start instead.

De la Fuente was asked about the condition of Morata during a press conference today, after which it had been made clear that Morata was called up by the official Spanish NT account.

“He received a strong blow yesterday, he is fine after the tests. There is a protocol and he should be able to play the first match. Otherwise, he will play the second,” he said (via MilanNews).

Fonseca spoke in his pre-match press conference at Milanello today and he was asked a couple of different questions about Morata, with one being about De la Fuente’s apparent desire to field him.

The question was: “The coach of Spain said that Morata will definitely play the first or second match with the national team. After the break there is Juventus, isn’t it better to explain to the coach that it would be better to rest?”

Fonseca’s response: “I don’t know how he can say that, there is a protocol. After a head injury the player must stop for 10 days. I have the indication that the player must stop for 10 days. It’s the protocol, it’s not an option, I don’t know how he can say that.”
