FC Barcelona are currently navigating a decisive institutional moment as the club moves through its presidential election process, with several candidates positioning their projects and sporting ideas ahead of the vote.
Among those in the running for the presidency is Xavier Vilajoana, who on Friday claimed that contact has already been made with English striker Harry Kane, having earlier shared an image of the forward wearing the Blaugrana shirt.
“We’ve initiated contacts with Kane’s entourage. We have to work with prudence and professionalism. We’re studying profiles, and Kane is one of them. He’s a goal-scorer, good in link-up play, and a ‘killer’ in tight spaces—qualities Barça need.”
The comments quickly reached Harry Kane himself. When asked directly about the reported links by Sky Sport Germany, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, the striker responded after helping Bayern Munich secure a comeback victory against Eintracht Frankfurt, a match in which he scored twice to continue his prolific Bundesliga form.
“I haven’t heard anything about it. My father and my brother take care of everything, but they haven’t told me anything. As I’ve said before, I’m very happy here at Bayern. I’m focused on this season and my journey at Bayern. I take it as a compliment.”

For now, however, it remains to be seen how this story develops in the coming weeks and months. Vilajoana is still only a pre-candidate and is widely viewed as an outsider in the race, with Joan Laporta the clear favourite to be re-elected as president.
While Laporta himself would also welcome the idea of replacing Robert Lewandowski with a forward of Harry Kane’s profile, such a move currently appears highly unlikely. Kane’s own remarks emphasise his commitment to Bayern Munich, while Barcelona’s ongoing financial constraints make any potential deal even more complicated.
