Rodri has responded to questions around his Manchester City future, with the latest reports concerning a fresh contract proposal on offer at the Etihad Stadium.

The Spanish midfielder has been integral to the club’s operation over the course of the last five years since joining Manchester City from Atletico Madrid, providing a new impetus in the centre of the park delivering countless decisive performances.

Among the most notable showings for the club has been his decisiveness in Premier League contests, further emphasised by Manchester City losing almost all of their contests without him during the previous campaign.

As such, Etihad officials are keen to ensure Rodri feels his contractual terms are a reflection of his importance to Pep Guardiola’s system, with the latest understanding being that a new offer could put him level with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland as the leading earner at the club.

Speaking ahead of Manchester City’s return to UEFA Champions League action this week, Rodri was quizzed on the latest report that indicates he has been presented with a fresh contract proposal from the club.

“Nothing much to say,” Rodri admitted. “I have, with this (contract), three more years at (Manchester) City, and when I sign the contracts I don’t think of other teams, I just think on finishing.”

He continued, So I have a contract with City, and nothing else I can say.”

The latest reports on Rodri’s contract have also indicated that Real Madrid have a concrete interest in recruiting the Spanish international at some stage in the future, although Los Blancos may struggle to meet any valuation put on the player by Manchester City.

It is also believed that the La Liga giants would be unable to match the finances being offered to the player by the Premier League club, and as such are monitoring City’s trial over their 115 English top-flight charges with close attention.

For now, Rodri will remain focussed on the field for the club, aiming to deliver further history and glory to the Etihad Stadium in what is currently Pep Guardiola’s final contracted year as Manchester City manager.
