FC Barcelona are all set for a crucial match today as they face their arch-rivals and their main contenders for the La Liga title, Real Madrid, at the Santiago Bernabeu. Hansi Flick will be going into this game with some very notable absences, and thus, this will be quite a challenge for the Blaugranes to get a win against the Merengues with a depleted squad.
A complete team effort would be needed to get this win, but still, most of the eyes in today’s game will be fixed on one Barcelona player, Lamine Yamal. In addition to being one of the biggest stars in the Catalan team, some of the youngster’s actions before the match will result in him facing even more pressure from the Bernabeu faithful.
As if his comments about Real Madrid “stealing and complaining” were not enough, the youngster decided to add more fuel to fire as he took to social media before the game. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, in a post on his social media, Lamine published a video of him playing football and celebrating with his friends, accompanied with the following message:
“The player who comes from the neighborhood doesn’t compete for fame — he competes for the future. He doesn’t play for the spotlight — he plays so he never has to go back. The real pressure isn’t in the stadium, it’s in the eyes of those who never stopped believing.
And when he scores, he doesn’t celebrate for himself — he celebrates because that goal can change everything: for him, for his people, and for his neighborhood… I left fear behind a long time ago — back in the park in Mataró.”
In a second post on Instagram, he also published a video of him celebrating his goal from the 0-4 win at the Santiago Bernabeu last season, with Real Madrid fans showing their displeasure with him in the background. With these social media posts, the El Clasico has been spiced up even further, and it will be even more exciting to see how Lamine Yamal plays for Barcelona in this game.
