Real Madrid star Aurélien Tchouaméni has moved to defend Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the attacker.

Lamine has taken his place centre stage in the post-match chatter following Sunday’s latest edition of El Clásico.

After the 18-year-old turned heads with a round of comments, criticising Real Madrid earlier this week, he was targeted in harsh fashion by several Blancos players following the full-time whistle in a 2-1 defeat for Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The likes of Dani Carvajal, Thibaut Courtois and Vinícius Jr. were all quick to make clear their frustrations with the Spanish international.

As alluded to above, though, one member of Xabi Alonso’s squad who views Lamine’s comments in an altogether different light is Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Speaking to the media post-match this evening, midfielder Tchouaméni, in quotes cited by Diario Sport, moved to defend Barca’s wing sensation:

“I like that (Lamine’s comments). At the end of the game we saw a little bit between the players. It helps us as players to compete against Barça. When I was little I had seen those things too. Don’t worry, in the end we won the game and it’s worth three points, but we have to continue like this.”

As the media pushed for a more dramatic response, Tchouaméni continued:

“Personally, I like it. They are just words and there is no bad intention. Especially with determination, it has helped us a little more.

“As I said, I like that. If Lamine wants to talk… In the end, the match is played on the field. Today we won, but we have to keep going to improve. We are very happy with the match and we are going to look forward.”
