Troy Deeney has named Nicolas Jackson in his team of the week and shared what he liked most about his goal against Leicester.
Jackson scored his seventh league goal of the season as Chelsea beat the Foxes 2-1 on Enzo Maresca’s return to the King Power Stadium.
The win meant the Blues stayed third in the league but closed the gap on second placed Manchester City to a point after their defeat to Tottenham.
It’s no secret Chelsea are looking for a striker having pursued Victor Osimhen for the majority of the summer, whilst they also agreed a deal for Samu Omorodion which collapsed at the last minute.
Jackson’s start to the season has shown missing out may not have been a bad thing and he’s started every match in the league under Maresca.
The Blues are big believers in the 23-year-old and a report in the Athletic last week stated they think Jackson is one of the top three strikers in the league.
The Senegal international has been receiving much more praise this season with Darren Bent admitting he’s a big fan of the forward.

Jackson’s finishing has visibly improved since last season and he’s already half way to his total of 14 league goals from last season.
Following his performance against Leicester Deeney named Jackson in his team of the week and was impressed by his finish.
“Nicolas Jackson: A goal and an assist at Leicester,” he wrote in his column on BBC Sport.
“He scored an unbelievable finish but I love his perseverance for the goal. He put so much pressure on.”

The goal was a brilliant example of Jackson’s work off the ball and why he’s in the side ahead of the more experienced and more established Christopher Nkunku.
The Senegalese will likely have the night off against Heidenheim in the Conference League on Thursday before returning to lead the line in Sunday’s big game against Aston Villa.
