Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has sent a strong message about his future, putting an end to speculation that surrounded him during last summer’s transfer window.

In an interview with Raul Llimos for Panini Studios Spain, the Barça midfielder addressed the rumours that linked him with a possible move away from the club, including reported interest from Chelsea.

During a summer filled with uncertainty and external noise, Fermin’s name was frequently mentioned as one of Barcelona’s potential departures.

Brushing off the rumours

However, the player has made it clear that those rumours never truly affected him.

Asked directly whether he ever considered leaving the club, Fermin responded calmly and without hesitation, saying:

“Personally, no. At the end of the day, I always want to be at Barça, and these things always happen: offers, external noise,” he said.

The midfielder went a step further, stating just how strong his emotional connection to Barcelona remains.

He explained that despite the speculation, his mindset never changed and his long-term vision has always been tied to the club.

“Personally, I was very calm because I wanted to be at Barça and I hope to be here for many years.

“Right now, I would sign up to retire at Barça, I don’t think about anything else,” he admitted.

Fermin’s decision to stay has been fully justified by his performances on the pitch. After choosing continuity over uncertainty, the academy graduate has emerged as one of Barcelona’s most influential players this season.

He has already registered 10 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, establishing himself as a key figure in midfield and earning the trust of the coaching staff.

Moreover, the player has also confirmed that he is close to renewing his contract with Barcelona, putting an end to any rumour that discussed his future away from the club.
