Spurs planned protest has been ‘put on hold’ amid ‘immediate generational threat’ of relegation
Igor Tudor said he is grateful for Tottenham fans’ planned show of support ahead of Sunday’s relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest.
Tottenham sit 16th in the Premier League and will host 17th-placed Forest, who trail them by one point, this weekend in a match which could have huge implications for the relegation battle.
Spurs have seen something of an uptick in form after drawing with Liverpool and beating Atletico Madrid in their last two fixtures, and fans are prepared to back the side as they face this crucial game.
A statement released by fan group THFC Flag and shared by several Spurs first-team players called for a spirited show of support against Forest.
It read in part: “Tottenham Hotspur means everything to us. It always has... To our team, our players, our coaching staff: we are right behind you... You will hear us.”
Tudor said he was grateful fans had recognised the team’s improvement.
“After the game [vs Atletico], there was a beautiful sensation, feeling of togetherness with the fans. Very rare,” he said.
“I felt this enjoyment, I enjoyed feeling the sensation that we are doing good on the pitch, but together with them, together with the fans. That was really nice, rare.
“We need to continue all together this, if we can say, small positive moment after two games where we can recognise small but important things for the squad.”

He continued: “Yeah, there is a positivity, but also understanding the game [vs Forest], it is not easy. So, important game, but probably it will not decide anything after the game, independent of the results. We just need to keep going on what we did in the last two games.”
Forest were in Europa League action on Thursday night, requiring extra-time and penalties to knock FC Midtjylland out in the round of 16.
Vitor Pereira rotated heavily for the match so as to keep his stars fresh for the Spurs match, though Morgan Gibbs-White, Neco Williams and Murillo ended up playing nearly an hour after coming on in the second-half. Elliot Anderson played 45 minutes.
Tudor, though, maintains Forest’s midweek exertions will not give Spurs a leg up on Sunday.
“There would be no advantage because the coach made it in the way so the players who started didn't play more than 60 minutes. So there would not be an advantage from this point of view.”
