New Spurs manager Igor Tudor insists that the club’s “Spursy” tag does not concern him.

During the manager’s first press conference since taking over the role, a reporter explained to manager what the term ‘Spursy’ meant.

The word is often used to describe Tottenham giving up leads from strong positions or not having the strength or character to get over the line when they have been so close in the past.

Tudor explained that the way the club is described is not important.

“It’s not about that [referring to Tottenham’s ‘Spursy’ tag],” he said. “I said it before, football’s not about names it’s about other things.

“Football is about here and here [he pointed to his head and his heart]. It’s always about that. It’s always about head, about brain, about heart. It’s all about that.”

The Croatian’s contract at the club runs out in the summer, however, he was asked if he wants to keep managing the club after the end of this season.

“It’s the same answer I told you before, I don’t think about this,” he answered.

Tottenham are currently two places and five points above the relegation zone in the Premier League. However, Tudor says he is not thinking about Spurs being in a relegation battle.

“No, it’s not important to think about that,” he said. “That’s what I was meaning about about thinking we can go down, we can also go up.

“There’s always a consequence of what you do . That’s my point. I never think about that. When I coach, I never watch the league table.

“Maybe it sounds strange. We’re in the top 16, where are we? I don’t watch it.”

The 47-year-old expressed that the only important things for him at this stage are getting “three points” on the board and making sure that his players are following the correct “processes” rather than looking at the club’s position in the league table.
