In Monaco, Argentina and England fans to watch World Cup semi-final under one roof | OneFootball

In Monaco, Argentina and England supporters will share the same venue at 21:00 on Wednesday 15 July for a keenly anticipated World Cup semi-final at La Rascasse.

According to Nice-Matin, the harbour-side bar expects about 30 fans from each country.

This fixture revives memories of the 1986 quarter-final, when the Albiceleste beat the Three Lions 2-0, aided by Diego Maradona’s controversial “Hand of God”. The match became iconic in Argentina, arriving four years after the Falklands War, won by the United Kingdom.

Claudio Pinoso, an Argentine hairdresser who has worked in Monaco for 20 years, said there is no issue with both sets of supporters gathering in the same place. He added that football is for everyone and that La Rascasse welcomes all.

The get-together brings the two fanbases under one roof in the principality, with attention fixed on a standout semi-final.
