UEFA has struck hard. The European governing body has handed a ten-year suspension to the Montenegrin club FK Arsenal Tivat.
According to reports from Foot Mercato, UEFA has taken tough measures against match-fixing in the 2023-2024 Conference League. The European football federation imposed a ten-year ban on FK Arsenal Tivat, along with a €500,000 fine.
UEFA focused particularly on Alashkert's (Armenia) emphatic 6-1 victory over Arsenal Tivat (Montenegro) in the second leg of the Conference League’s first qualifying round, which saw the Armenian side advance to the next stage with a 7-2 aggregate score after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
"Following an investigation and disciplinary proceedings against FK Arsenal Tivat and others in connection with alleged violations of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) during the UEFA Conference League 2023/24 matches between Alashkert FC and FK Arsenal Tivat in July 2023, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) announced the following decisions:* FK Arsenal Tivat (club): 10-year ban from UEFA competitions (until the 2033/2035 season) and a €500,000 fine* Nikola Celebic (FK Arsenal Tivat – player): lifetime suspension* Ranko Krgovic (FK Arsenal Tivat – coach): lifetime suspension* Cetko Manojlovic (FK Arsenal Tivat – player): 10-year suspension* Radule Zivkovic (FK Arsenal Tivat – player): 10-year suspension* Dusan Puletic (FK Arsenal Tivat – player): 10-year suspension* Milan Vignjevic (now manager of FK Radnicki Obrenovac): 10-year suspension* Goran Janjusevic (now manager of FK Radnicki Obrenovac): 6-year suspension* Christos Psomiadis (no club specified): 8-year suspension", the governing body announced.
