Lionel Messi is currently the biggest talk in India right now, as the Argentine international has visited the country as part of the GOAT India Tour 2025, alongside Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul.
After visiting Kolkata and Hyderabad, Messi’s next stop saw him visit the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, where he met many of the legends of Indian sports.
The trio was also greeted by thousands of Indian football fans, with the crowd largely being dominated by Barcelona fans.
During Messi’s visit to the stadium, the player was welcomed by Indian fans chanting ‘P*ta Madrid’ as captured in a video shared online.
In the video, fans chanting against Real Madrid can be clearly heard in the background as Messi, Suarez and De Paul look on.
This is not the first time Indian fans have opted to support Messi by chanting against Real Madrid. Earlier, in Mumbai, fans gathered outside Messi’s hotel, chanting the same slogan.
Messi, for his part, was all smiles during the whole event as he was greeted by some of the legends of Indian sports, including footballer Sunil Chettri, who has the record of scoring the fourth-highest number of international goals.
Messi also met legendary cricket Sachin Tendulkar, who handed him a signed shirt bearing his name, in exchange for Messi’s own shirt.
At the start of his tour, though, chaos had erupted in Kolkata when fans started to cause violence by throwing bottles and broken chairs, in reaction to politicians surrounding Messi, who was then sheltered back to the hotel in just five minutes.
After visits to Kolkata, Mumbai and Hyderabad, Messi’s final stop is Delhi, the nation’s capital.
