Villarreal begin a new era under Iñigo Pérez after finishing third in Primera División, with the 2026/27 Champions League ahead. The focus is on improving what they have.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, names to watch include Alberto Moleiro, Renato Veiga, Willy Kambwala, Álex Freeman, Tani Oluwaseyi, Pau Navarro, Dani Requena, Ilias Akhomach, Ayoze Pérez and Georges Mikautadze.
A 4-2-3-1 could suit Moleiro in a central attacking role, where his vision and carrying between the lines may thrive. Veiga offers physique, versatility and edge, which could be vital across league, Champions League and Copa.
Kambwala has the power and aggression to grow, with better positioning and consistency likely to raise his ceiling. Freeman is a candidate at right-back, and his energy going forward could earn chances if his defending matures. Pau Navarro provides homegrown reliability and adaptability.
Oluwaseyi could be a useful alternative up front, able to attack space and change games from the bench. Akhomach returns from a loan at Rayo Vallecano under Pérez and must show continuity, work and end product to earn a place. Pre-season will also test Thiago Fernández after his Oviedo loan.
Dani Requena, Carlos Maciá and Alassane Diatta will try to impress. Reviving Ayoze Pérez’s best form is another aim, while Mikautadze could evolve into a Champions League-level finisher. Ultimately the plan is to unlock the talent already on the books.
