Earlier today, Real Madrid announced that captain and key defender Dani Carvajal had suffered a soleus muscle injury in his right leg.

The 33-year-old right-back sustained the injury during Saturday’s La Liga game against Atletico Madrid, which the Merengues lost 2-5.

The injury is expected to keep Carvajal out of action for four weeks, casting serious doubts over his availability for the first El Clasico of the season, set to be played in a month.

Now, according to journalist Ruben Martin, Carvajal is already working on his recovery with the idea of returning in time to face Barcelona in La Liga next month.

Los Blancos host their bitter rivals at the Santiago Bernabeu on 26 October. And the idea of both the captain and the club is for him to be ready in time for that crucial clash.

Real Madrid are already without Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is out until November with an injury. Carvajal’s setback this week leaves the team without a recognised senior right-back for the next month.

As such, the 33-year-old veteran is determined to make it back in time to face Barcelona at the Bernabeu on 26 October and work has already begun in order to achieve that target.

Up until his injury last evening, Carvajal had featured in seven matches across all competitions.

As things stand, he will miss the upcoming four matches against Kairat Almaty, Villarreal, Getafe, and Juventus, with the aim being to return to face Barcelona on 26 October.
