The 21-year-old has been absent from the Arsenal teamsheet since after the Champions League semi-final second-leg victory over Lyon.

Her injury kept her out of the Champions League final, where Arsenal beat Barcelona to win the prestigious trophy.

Missing Women’s Euro 2025 is the latest setback for the youngster’s career. She is expected to return to training in mid-July during Arsenal’s pre-season.

Sweden manager Peter Gerhardsson said: “She’s not being rushed for this championship.

“It’s a foot injury she underwent surgery for—the same one that ruled her out of the Champions League final. It’s extremely unfortunate.

“She’s been with us a lot but has had a tough journey—not just this injury, but a previous one as well.”

Kafaji made 19 appearances for the Gunners this season but started only three matches and scored one goal.

The Euro 2025 fixture schedule sees Sweden kick off their campaign against Denmark on July 4th in Geneva. They then face Poland and Germany on July 8th and 12th respectively.

WSL players included in Sweden squad

Rosa Kafaji’s Arsenal teammate Stina Blackstenius has made the 23-player Sweden squad for Women’s Euro 2025.

Blackstenius at the age of 29, has already made 116 appearances for her country, scoring 38 goals.

Lina Hurtig, who has been with the Gunners since 2022, also makes the Sweden squad. However, she is set to leave Arsenal at the end of her contract this summer.

Chelsea pair Nathalie Bjorn and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd are also part of the squad after guiding Chelsea to the WSL title.

The final WSL player to be included in the squad is Tottenham defender Amanda Nilden.

Additionally, Sofia Jakobsson and Kosovare Asllani, who helped London City Lionesses gain promotion to the WSL for the first time, are included in the squad.

The pair have tons of international experience with 358 caps between them.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s Fridolina Rolfo makes the squad after doubts over whether she would be fit for the tournament.
