Ben Dinnery reports that the Brazilian international left the ground with his arm in a sling, having sustained a shoulder problem in a challenge with Willy Boly.

Pep Guardiola said afterwards that the injury “doesn’t look good”, and the Evening Standard report that City doctors will assess the goalkeeper on Monday.

Ederson is now viewed as a doubt for City’s final four games of the season, with Stefan Ortega likely to deputise.

City face Wolves at home on Saturday, May 4th, before travelling away to Fulham a week later on May 11th.

Pep Guardiola’s side then have two games in the final week of the season, travelling away to Tottenham Hotspur on May 14th before ending the season with a home game against West Ham United on May 19th.

With just 20 days to go until that final game of the Premier Leagueg season, any serious injury to Ederson would likely rule him out of the remainder of the campaign.

The one positive for Manchester City is that they’ve already been dealing with injury absences for Ederson this season.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper missed two league games with a muscle injury a few weeks ago, and he dropped to the bench for a couple of other fixtures in October and April.

Ortega has made 17 appearances for City in all competitions in 2023/24, including seven in the Premier League, so he’s already up to speed and ready to step in.
