One insider has explained why Cole Palmer smacked his seat in annoyance after being subbed off in the Aston Villa game.

Palmer was actually a picture of frustration all game actually. I was watching the game live at Stamford Bridge and the amount of times he got annoyed with a team mate for being wasteful in the first half when Chelsea needed to score a second goals I lost count of. He was fuming.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea looking into January deal to sign Dutch midfielder!!

We all know that Palmer has just come back from a long injury out, and Enzo Maresca and Chelsea seem to be trying to manage his reinterrogation. It’s worked so well with Reece James so far, but what it means is that you do not play every minute of every game. Palmer is slowly coming back into the side but it seems like he was hoping to play 90 minutes against Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon, rather than being hooked when the game was 1-1 in the second half.

Insider Kieran Gill of The Daily Mail has reported that Palmer was not too pleased with being substituted against Aston Villa. He asked Maresca’s assistant Danny Walker why they had decided to hook him, and gave the back of his seat a smack.

You can understand his frustrations. Chelsea went on to lose the game and it was a game that we should have had dead and buried in the first half when we were all over Villa.
