According to Football Italia, Lorenzo Insigne has agreed terms to join Serie B side Pescara as a free agent, returning to the club more than 13 years after his breakout season.

The forward is out of contract following his stint in MLS with Toronto FC from 2022 to July 2025.

He had options to come back to Italy elsewhere, including hometown club Napoli, and a possible reunion with former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri at Lazio.

Insigne spent one season at Pescara in 2011-12 under Zdenek Zeman in a remarkable Serie B squad alongside Ciro Immobile and Marco Verratti. He scored 20 goals and supplied 13 assists in 38 appearances, and has 10 goals in 54 senior Italy caps.

Pescara, nicknamed the Dolphins, are in Serie B and currently sit at the foot of the table, at risk of dropping to the third tier. The deal is expected to run for six months with an option to extend if they remain in Serie B.
