Dutch giants Ajax are ‘intent on moving ahead of the competition’ for Everton and West Ham United target Cesare Casadei, as they look to strengthen in the summer.
The 23-year-old midfielder has previous Premier League experience with Chelsea, who agreed a deal with Inter Milan to sign him in the summer of 2022.
However, Casadei’s time at Chelsea did not go as planned, as he made just 17 senior appearances and was loaned out twice, to Reading and Leicester City.
He returned to Italy in January 2025 and joined Torino, where he has since become a regular part of the side and continued his development in Serie A.
Casadei has caught the eye in Italy and Everton and West Ham are both watching him ahead of the summer window.
The Premier League pair, who are ‘in the background’, will face competition for the midfielder however.

According to Italian outlet CuoreToro.it, the 23-year-old is attracting particular interest from three major Dutch clubs in the shape of Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord.
Out of the three it is Ajax who have emerged as the most serious competition for Everton and West Ham to deal with.
It is suggested that Ajax are ‘intent on moving ahead of the competition’ as they bid to strengthen their midfield options.
Ajax are renowned for developing players and the idea of a move to the Netherlands could well be something which makes sense for Casadei.
Everton and West Ham though likely have superior financial resources to the Amsterdam side.

Everton, under David Moyes, have kicked on and made themselves contenders to bring European football to the Hill Dickinson.
West Ham are focused on survival and if they do remain a top flight side, Nuno Espirito Santo will want to reinforce the squad in the summer.
Torino will, it is stressed, need to decide whether they want to sell Casadei in the summer or build their project around him.
The Italian side would be looking for a minimum of €18m to let the midfielder, who has been regularly in their starting eleven, go in the summer.
How much PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord will push for Casadei remains to be seen.
