Milan Primavera booked their place in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia after beating Inter in a penalty shootout on Wednesday evening.

Milan took the lead 30 minutes in and the goal came from Bakoune, who went one-on-one with the goalkeeper but then the ball ricocheted off two defenders and into the net. It would go down as an own-goal by Cocchi.

Just before half-time, Inter got themselves level as Milan’s defence was caught asleep. Aidoo ran down the right and provided a ball into the middle for Mosconi who scored without much of a challenge.

Twelve minutes into the second half, the Nerazzurri then took the lead. A free kick from the flank was crossed in and Longoni came out for the ball but didn’t get to it, allowing Berenbruch to tap into an empty net.

Ten minutes later, the Rossoneri were level through Mattia Liberali and it was a beautiful goal from the number ten. He controlled the ball at the edge of the box and unleashed a rocket of a left-footed shot inside the far post.

The tie was level at 2-2 after 90 minutes and went straight to penalties, with Longoni the hero as he stopped Lavelli and Pinotti’s spot kicks. Bonomi, Perrucci, Victor Eletu and Perina all scored to earn a 4-2 shootout win for Federico Guidi’s side.
