Inter have already opened talks with the Percassi family over Marco Palestra, and even though Atalanta are yet to set their asking price for the promising full-back, the Serie A champions are in a hurry to strike a deal, regardless of the future of Liverpool target Denzel Dumfries, reports Gazzetta.

Inter are pushing to sign Atalanta-owned wing-back Palestra, and the Nerazzurri president, Beppe Marotta, has already held talks with La Dea’s co-owner, Antonio Percassi.

According to Gazzetta, Inter are in a hurry to reach an agreement, as they see a ‘unique opportunity’ to sign a promising Italian player who currently earns only €280,000 per season.

Palestra will return to Atalanta from a successful one-season loan spell at Cagliari, where he provided four assists and scored one goal in 37 Serie A appearances.

According to Gazzetta, Atalanta have yet to determine the asking price for Palestra as they are currently reviewing the club’s organisation in light of the imminent appointments of a new sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, and a new coach, Maurizio Sarri.

Palestra’s performances this season even earned him his Italy national team debut in March, in the otherwise depressing World Cup qualifiers.

Inter are eager to sign Palestra regardless of Dumfries’s future, who has a €25m release clause in July.

Previous reports claimed that Dumfries’ agent had already held talks with Liverpool and Barcelona, yet no offer has been submitted, and it’s unlikely that the Dutchman will choose his next club before the World Cup.

Inter are planning to sell Luis Henrique after a disappointing debut season, making room for Palestra, regardless of whether Dumfries stays.
