Inter Miami complete signing of former Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon | OneFootball

Inter Miami have completed the signing of Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon on a contract through the end of 2027, with a club option for 2028. The club announced the deal on 15 December.

The former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham defender joins as a free agent. His last competitive appearance was on 16 May 2025, playing 75 minutes for Tottenham in a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

The move underlines Miami's aim to remain competitive after winning MLS Cup. It also addresses the vacancy left by Jordi Alba, who retired at the end of the 2025 season.

Reguilon said he was attracted by an ambitious, winning project and wants to keep winning and competing. A Madrid academy graduate, he is known for his willingness to attack, overlapping runs and work at both ends.

At 28, his capacity to overlap, contribute in the final third and recover defensively should suit Miami's high-pressure, free flowing style. While no player can replicate Alba's influence, Reguilon is perhaps the closest profile.

With a busy and competitive 2026 ahead, Miami have moved quickly to retool their squad in the hope of defending their MLS Cup title.
