Inter started as they played throughout: slow. Genoa defended well. But were unable to hurt Inter on the counter.

In fact, Inter were unable to create anything of note in the opening 45 minutes. Neither did Genoa so it was goalless at the halftime interval.

In the second half Inter continued where they left off. Poorly. But there was somewhat more urgency and tempo.

Subsequently, in the 78th minute Lautaro Martinez headed Inter into the lead. Hakan Calhanoglu crossed the ball in and Lautaro headed the ball into the back of the net.

Genoa created a couple of chances but Josep Martinez kept a clean sheet against his former team. It was an important performance by the Spaniard who joined Inter last summer.

However, that goal turned out to be the winner. The Nerazzurri bounce back with a monumentally important win. Especially, with regards to the Serie A title race.
