Inter Milan’s 1-2 Serie A loss against Udinese yesterday raises the spectre of their Club World Cup crashout against Fluminense.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note a pattern of Inter struggling against similar opposition.
Cristian Chivu has now suffered his second defeat as Inter coach.
The Romanian had already been in charge of Inter at the Club World Cup.
There, after a fairly solid-looking group stage, the Nerazzurri crashed out of the tournament at the round of sixteen stage.
It was Brazilian side Fluminense that handed Chivu his first loss as Inter coach.

In the US in June, Inter struggled against the physicality and organization of Fluiminense.
Over the summer, meanwhile, Cristian Chivu had a preseason in which to work on finding solutions for the kind of problems Inter face against the Brazilians.
In Inter’s opening day clash with Torino, meanwhile, they faced a team who offered little resistance in the end.
However, in contrast, Udinese were more than up for the battle. Even after going a goal down.
Therefore, the Gazzetta dello Sport note, Inter are once again facing exactly the same kinds of questions that they had after their loss to Fluminense.
