Experienced Serie A referee Matteo Marchetti lived up to the billing in last night’s Coppa Italia clash between Inter Milan and Torino.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 36-year-old handled all key moments with authority.
Cristian Chivu’s second-string side eked out a nerve-shredding 2-1 win over the Turin outfit at the Brianteo Stadium.
Indeed, the two Frenchmen inspired the Nerazzurri to a crucial victory in Monza.
Ange-Yoan Bonny opened the scoring late in the first half before Andy Diouf sealed Torino’s fate two minutes after the break.

Marchetti didn’t have to show a single yellow card in the first half.
However, he booked three Inter Milan players in the second 45 minutes.
While Petar Sucic’s cynical tackle on Alieu Njie warranted a booking, Francesco Pio Esposito could’ve walked away without a yellow.
The same applies to Guillermo Maripan, the only Torino player to find his name in Marchetti’s notebook.
Still, his decision to disallow Torino’s late equalizer was spot-on as Matteo Prati was offside.
