Paolo Di Canio waxed lyrical about Inter Milan midfielder Petar Sucic after last night’s impressive 3-0 win over Fiorentina.

Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the former West Ham striker recognized the 21-year-old’s immense potential.

After a superb start to life at San Siro, Petar Sucic fell out of favor.

However, after Henrikh Mkhitaryan slumped to a thigh injury at Napoli last weekend, Cristian Chivu had a choice to make.

Indeed, Mkhitaryan’s injury depleted Chivu’s midfield options, forcing him to choose between Piotr Zielinski and Sucic.

Since the former struggled after coming off the bench against Napoli, the Nerazzurri boss picked Sucic.

As it turned out, Mkhitaryan’s absence was a blessing in disguise as the Croatian starlet put on a phenomenal performance.

Shortly after Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scsoring, Sucic scored his first-ever goal in Serie A to seal Inter’s victory.

Moreover, his outstanding overall performance earned him broad plaudits, with Di Canio now joining the chorus of praise.

“Sucic performs a real piece of magic,” Di Canio said. “He fakes a shot to the far post and instead, with great class, moves the ball with the sole of his foot.

“It’s almost a Halloween scene: he says ‘trick or treat.’ He fakes the treat and then delivers the trick.

“Furthermore, he finishes the move perfectly, especially since the opponent slips trying to stop him, but he remains calm, precise, and intelligent.

“It’s a technically difficult move, predictable only by someone who can really do it well.

“De Gea can’t reach it,” Di Canio added. “It’s too strong and too precise.

“Sucic shows he has both personality and quality: he can become an important player,” the former striker concluded.

After a stellar showing last night, it’s only reasonable to expect Chivu to give Sucic another league start when Inter take on Hellas Verona on Sunday.
