Inter Milan second-string striker Marko Arnautovic is reportedly hellbent on silencing his detractors despite irregular first-team action.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, a lack of first-team opportunities at Giuseppe Meazza doesn’t faze the Austria international.

Marko Arnautovic returned to Inter after 13 years in the summer of 2023.

He initially joined the club on loan from Bologna before making his transfer permanent this summer.

However, he has been a bit-part player in Simone Inzaghi’s system.

Indeed, Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram remain Inzaghi’s preferred attacking pairing.

Moreover, Mehdi Taremi’s arrival on a Bosman deal has further complicated Arnautovic’s status at Meazza.

Low in the pecking order, the 35-year-old has only amassed 38 minutes of Serie A action this season.

Despite making two UEFA Champions League starts, he’s seemingly out of favor with Inzaghi.

On top of that, his contract at Inter expires at the end of the season.

With the Nerazzurri looking to inject fresh blood into their aging squad, Arnautovic will depart the club next summer.

But he doesn’t want to leave as a flop.

Inter Milan Veteran Marko Arnautovic Eager to Silence His Doubters

Although he has barely featured for Inter this season, Arnautovic has a special place in the national team.

Indeed, he captained Austria in a 1-1 UEFA Nations League draw against Slovenia last weekend.

In October, he netted a brace in a 5-0 thumping of Norway, emphasizing his significance to Ralph Rangnick’s set-up.

However, Inzaghi has been reluctant to hand him a more prominent role in his line-up.

That doesn’t discourage Arnautovic, who is reportedly willing to keep working hard to earn a place in the starting XI.

But that doesn’t change the fact he remains the fourth option in attack.

Inter will encounter Hellas Verona on Saturday, with Arnautovic likely to start on the bench alongside Taremi.
