Inter Milan are dreaming of signing winger Federico Chiesa on a free transfer next summer when his contract with Juventus expires.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.

At the moment, Chiesa’s future at Juventus is up in the air.

The 26-year-old’s current contract with the Bianconeri runs until the end of next June.

Juventus and Chiesa have been locked in contract extension talks for over a year at this stage.

However, they have yet to find an agreement on a new deal for the former Fiorentina winger.

Chiesa’s somewhat underwhelming season last time out hasn’t helped – he scored ten goals across all competitions, though the feeling was that he was rarely decisive.

Nor has the Italian international’s injury record. Persistent fitness problems have sometimes kept Chiesa on the sidelines, or hindered his momentum and consistency.

Inter Dreaming Of Federico Chiesa Free Transfer Signing From Juventus

Given Chiesa’s contract situation, Juventus have made no secret of the fact that they are aiming to offload the 26-year-old.

However, that may be easier said than done.

The interest from Serie A looks to be limited at the moment.

Roma have sounded out a move for Chiesa. However, the Giallorossi’s real interest appears to be in young Juventus winger Matias Soule.

Meanwhile, there is some tentative interest from the Premier League.

There could be a move to Manchester United – possibly as part of some sort of exchange deal involving Red Devils winger Jadon Sancho.

Newcastle United have also come forward as potential suitors.

But on the other hand, if no serious offers come in for Chiesa, then the former Fiorentina winger could simply remain at Juventus for one more season.

The prospect of Chiesa staying longer than that does not appear great, however.

New Bianconeri coach Thiago Motta has not signalled that Chiesa will play a big role in the project going forward.

Accordingly, the Italian could leave Juventus on a free transfer at the end of next season.

In that case, the Corriere della Sera note, Inter would be one of the first teams at the queue.

The Nerazzurri’s penchant for making big name free transfer signings is no great secret.

This summer alone, Inter have already brought in Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski via that route. They follow Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Andre Onana, and Marcus Thuram.

Therefore, Inter could look to pull off yet another free transfer deal, and then hope to get the best out of Chiesa.
