Inter Milan had lined up an offer for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, but would have only signed the Brazilian on one condition.

This according to Italian outlet FCInter1908. They report that the Nerazzurri would have only signed the Atalanta player as a replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu.

Inter’s transfer window centred for weeks around their pursuit of one Atalanta player in particular.

The Nerazzurri had chased La Dea forward Ademola Lookman for a good chunk of the summer. And they did not end up getting their man.

However, Lookman was not the only Atalanta player on Inter’s radar.

Midfielder Ederson also emerged as an Inter target after three outstanding seasons at Atalanta.

According to FCInter1908, Inter even had an offer ready for Ederson this summer.

However, the 25-year-old would not have come cheap. Therefore, Inter were hardly going to make a move for him without first making a major sale.

And the only candidate whose departure would have facilitated the move would have been Hakan Calhanoglu.

The 31-year-old was, in turn, a high profile target for Galatasaray for several weeks. Nevertheless, he remained at Inter in the end.

But had Calhanoglu left, then Inter would have been ready to make a move for Ederson.

Furthermore, FCIN1908 report, the Nerazzurri planned to offer Kristjan Asllani as a makeweight to lower the cash fee for the Brazilian.
